Be Still

Posted on January 2, 2019 at 5:15 PM Comments comments (425)

To wake up to a noisy alarm and jump out of bed. Glancing at the clock seeing time has already slipped away. Rushng in the shower and getting dressed. Time enough to grab a cup of coffee, read a verse and say a short prayer. All the while He watches, waiting for the fellowship He desires with me. Oh time to get out the door, to the car and off to work I go.  Already at work and I whisper silently "oh Lord what do I do about this". He answers gently "If you had stopped and took the time to converse with Me, I would have prepared you, I would have filled you with what you need. I would have guided you before you even cried out."  Lesson learned.

Psalm 46:10

Throughout our day we are constantly reaching for something. It could be the kids, the items in our home, a book or maybe the presence of the Lord. Sometimes as we reach out for the presence of the Lord, we may be in the place where we don't have the strength to even get a prayer past our lips, or maybe we are at a lost of words. In our mindsets, we may feel that we have to sing and read certain scriptures in order to reach that place to be in the presence of the Lord. Or maybe we may think that we have to be good, talk nice, show love in order to get into that place where we feel the tangible presence of God. Or perhaps you think that you have to pick up a flag, a timbrel or a veil to get into the presence of God. What about just bending your knees, bowing your heart, surrendering all to Jesus and saying Yes Lord, not my will be done, but Your will be done. What about just resting in His presence lavishing your love upon Him with arms stretched out and heart abandoned. As you reach out to Him, know He is reaching out to you as He pours His love upon you, wrapping you with His presence. Reach out for Jesus!

A New Season

How many times do we try to do something the way it was done in the past, for we knew it would work again. Come to find out what worked then is not working now. Then it becomes a struggle and you ask God why. Maybe He is saying that season is over and now I want you to come up higher, for I have another assignment for you. How many times have we stood still to hear what God is saying, many times we just continue to struggle to move forth in what we think God wants us to do. I have found first when I seek first the kingdom God and His righteousness, the very first thing in the morning, I find myself in His presence throughout the day. I find myself craving His word, which is life. Many times I find answers to my questions. Throughout life we will be going through seasons that will change. But one thing that will not change is God's love for us! He will never leave or forsake us! "There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven......" Ecclesiastes 3:1

How many times have we waited with expectation for  something to occur in our lives or our loved ones life.  Expectation can be positive or it can be negative, depending on what the consequence might be.  Expectation can raise our hopes, it is a hope of a possibility.  It might be a possiblity beyond our wildest dreams.  My hope and expectation is in the Lord.  I cling to His words and hide them in my heart.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.      Jeremiah 29:11

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation [is] from him. Psalm 62:5

Who are you putting your expectaions in?

Make it the Lord!

Starting the day with Jesus

It has been awhile since I have been here.  The busyness of life.  Working, becoming a grandmother for the second time, taking care of my husband after surgery.  Wow!  I have learned quite a bit in the past few weeks.  I find myself crying out to God more for others than myself.  I rise early to hear what the Lord may have for me, as I say my assignment.  Who is it that I am to pray for that day, or help in a time of need.  How often do we feel empty when we don't start our day off with prayer.  Not only feeling empty, but rushed at times and unsure.  Praying for a grandhchild that was in the ICU, days later praying for a husband as he had surgery.  In the midst of my prayers, I found peace.  I knew deep down within me that everything would be alright.  As it turned out, my grandson is home, my husband came through surgery without any difficulty.  Praise the Lord.

"My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up."  Psalm 5:3

Start your day with Jesus and watch how your perspective will change!

No Electronic Zone

I have learned over the years, that my day begins best when I spend time in the scripture and in prayer. How many times I have picked up my tablet in the morning stating "ok I am going to read my bible on my tablet." Who am I fooling? I would check my email, then go to face book quickly, then I reasoned that I had to make one move with Words with Friends. Then I would get to my electronic bible. I have nothing against the electronic bible, but I found too many distractions using my tablet.  I am beginning this month to going back to what I have learned. Not picking up my electronics, but picking up my hard cover bible. Turning the pages to where I am reading and meditating on the word. I challenge you too, not to pick up your cell phone or tablet first, but the Word of God and watch how much more pleasant your day will be.

Psalm 63:1-2  "O God, You are my God, early will I seek You, my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land....."

It's Not Fair

Posted on July 9, 2015 at 10:35 PM Comments comments (292)

How often do we hear our children say to us "that's not fair"?  How often do we attempt to explain to them the purpose or reasoning of what ever the situation. Regardless of what we may say, there is sometimes no satisfaction in our answer to that child.   How many times have we thought or even cried out to God  "this is not fair" or "Why".  I think of Job, he lost everything and I mean everything.  He listened to his friends with answers to his question and he even cries out to God .  Job feared, desired to die, complained, defended God, requested to see his sins.  He had a broken spirit, he questioned, he reasoned and he longed for blessings to be restored.  Job was answered by God, he was humbled, he repented.  Job's blessing was restored, doubled.  God's ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.  God is in control of everything.  Regardless of what the situation looiks like.

 James 1:2-4

"Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing."

Fresh Fruit

Posted on July 5, 2015 at 6:55 PM Comments comments (16220)

Oh how I love the taste of fresh fruit.  The vibrant colors, the sweetness and crunch of some of the fruit.    Fruit can look attractive, drawing us by the way it is presented; that is the color, size, shape, firmness or softness and the taste.  How we may bite into the fruit and our taste buds long for more of that fruit.  Sometimest we will find fruit that is attractive on the outside, but once we bite or cut into the fruit we may find a worm, an area that is dying or has become rotten.  How disappointing that may be.

John talks to us about the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22 "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control.  Against there is no law."  This fruit never goes rotten, in fact it continues to draw men closer to Jesus.  If we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and we walk in obedience, the fruit of the Spirit is evident within us for all to see.  It is when we are disobedient that the fruit no longer looks like the fruit of the Spirit, it looks like rotten fruit coming from the heart.  Jesus is the vine and we are the branches, stay connected to the vine, the fruit grows and becomes strong. What a joy it is to see someone walking in love, joy, peace and the remaining fruit.  How can we stay connected to the vine, read your bible, pray, live in the spirit and watch your fruit grow for you to share with others.

The Best Part of the Day

Posted on June 24, 2015 at 10:00 AM Comments comments (25)

The best part of waking up, no it is not the first cup of coffee.  I find the best part of waking up is that I can thank my Father for waking me up, I can get up praising and worshiping Him.  I can get into the Word of God while it is quiet, while the household is sleeping and hear what God is saying.  I can be still and know that He is God.  I can inquire what is on His heart and how I should proceed through the day with my assignment.  I am spiritually fed and I grow.  I get a glimpse of the things that I need to make right immediately.  The best part of waking up is knowing that I can say to my loved ones that "I love you".  I get  another opportunity to say "I am sorry".  I get another opportunity to encourage, motivate and guide one that is struggling.  The best part of waking up is that I can walk, talk and live according to God's word.  Yet I can't do this unless I spend time in His presence.

"O satisfy us early with thy mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days." Psalm 90:14 (KJV)

Reading my bible today I was just sitting and scanning through Proverbs and my eyes hit the word righteous.  I then asked the Lord who is righteous in this world, what does the righteous man or woman attain being righteous.  The righteous one has been absolved from sin, because of Christ who died on the cross for each of us.  Throughout Proverbs I found that "the path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day." (Prov 4:1)  Jesus is our righteousness for he bestows wealth on those who love Him.   When a righteous man is taught he will add to his learning. (Pro 9:9).  The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life. (Prov10:11).  "The wages of the righteous bring them life." (Prov 10:16).  "The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom." (Pro 10:31).  "The righteous man is rescued from trouble." -Prov 11:8  "The truly righteous man attains life"-Pro 11:19  "The desires of the righteous ends only in good." - Prov 11:23.  Thank you Lord for it is because of you Lord that I am found righteous.
